Draft Profile: Bio
Joey Luchetti from Lawrence Academy High School was rated a 3-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Luchetti opted to join Boston College. In 2018 as a freshman Luchetti saw action in just one game for the Eagles as he made 2 receptions for just 4 yards for an average of 2.0 yards per reception, with no TDs, and a solid QB rating when targeted of 79.2. As a blocker he allowed no pressures and no sacks.
As a sophomore in 2019 he played just 2 games and had just 13 catches for 157 yards for an average of 12.1 yards per catch, with no TDs, and a solid QB rating when targeted of 71.6. In pass protection he gave up no pressures and no sacks.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Aggressive with good awareness to track the ball and attack. Tenacious, tough, competItIve and versatile.
- Luchetti can also win going speed-to-power, with the leg drive to push blockers back.
- His spin move is already NFL-caliber, and Luchetti displays a very good motor.
- He’s very instinctive when it comes to countering and solid with overall hand usage.
- Quick off the snap in the pass rush, he has violent hands and a good feel for working inside counter moves.
- Luchetti could fit as a 3-4 OLB, as he held his own when he was asked to drop into coverage at times.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Not an elite athlete with average functional strength and size. Lacks the length to fend off blocks and can be too energetic and lose his angle. Doesn't have a natural position at the next level.
- His pass rush moves need refinement, and Luchetti doesn’t have a lot of range in coverage.
- Luchetti could stand to be more violent as a tackler in the run game, as he too often allows backs to run through his arm tackles. Luchetti also has limited experience dropping into coverage.
Update - 02/20/2023

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
