Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Has very good playing speed and is fast in pursuit, chasing down the action with a closing burst. Coordinated and looks natural in space.
  • Davis has ability as a blitzer, with the length and flexibility to get around the edge.
  • Some teams will prefer him as a 4-3 Will, but Davis has a chance to hold up in the middle and be a good one.
  • Has enough athleticism to drop in coverage and penetrate the pocket. Has good experience as a four-year starter.
  • A bit stiff but makes the clean open-field tackle. Good effort in pursuit.
  • Will stiff-arm linemen to stay free on some plays. Athletic enough to stay with running backs out of the backfield and knock receivers off crossing routes.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • His lateral agility and burst often put him in position to make big plays, but Davis takes questionable routes to the ball and struggles to avoid blockers when in pursuit.
  • Davis is a little stiff as an athlete and doesn’t have the twitch of the top linebacker prospects in this draft.
  • He’s instinctive with the range to be a quality two down player. Davis might stay on the field on third downs only if he’s part of a zone-heavy scheme, limiting his appeal.
