Let's Set Odds- Will a Quarterback Be Drafted in the Top 10?

BetSided sets the odds for whether a quarterback goes in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Every year, general managers around the league – especially of teams without a quarterback – convince themselves that one of the quarterback prospects in the draft is the one to lead their franchise. This year, we haven’t seen as much of that. The 2022 draft class has been labeled as a weak one for quarterbacks, but there is still a little bit of noise that one quarterback could be snatched at the top of the draft.

The Carolina Panthers are the only team that has been attached to a quarterback in the top 10. Do they draft one or does another team trade into the top 10 to get their guy? Or does neither happen and we wait a while for the first signal caller to be taken off the board?

Let’s set the odds.

Does A Quarterback Go Top 10 in 2022 NFL Draft

  • Yes: +300
  • No: -250

A Quarterback Gets Taken in the Top 10

While this isn’t a strong quarterback class and every other position has solid depth, quarterbacks always reign supreme. If you think you can get a franchise quarterback, you do what you can to go get him. GMs will lie to themselves all day if it means justifying a quarterback selection and one team might be desperate enough to do so.

Malik Willis and Kenny Pickett have been the two hottest names, but even Desmond Ridder could get involved in the action. Teams like the Saints and Steelers might trade into the top 10 to get a quarterback, especially because the rest of their rosters are solid. While I wouldn’t do it, it wouldn’t shock me if a team moved up.

No Quarterbacks Get Taken In the Top 10

This is absolutely not the draft to mortgage your future for in order to get a quarterback. There’s a lot of uncertainty about every prospect and the fact we’ve gotten to draft day and a team hasn’t made a move up speaks volumes. Teams are going to sit back and wait tonight to see if they can finesse an extra pick and a quarterback at the same time.

Even with Malik Willis, there’s a very real chance he doesn’t get picked until the second half of the first round. I’ll put a little faith in the NFL teams and trust they won’t bite on a bad class.
