They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They banked enough surplus on Mustapha to cover a lot of smaller sins. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 7th overall pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A real need, handled.
Nothing to complain about; Quinyon Mitchell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Haynes at No. 77, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Leonard Taylor III at slot 112 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
Malik Mustapha slid further than he should have, and pick No. 150 is lovely value for the safety. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Curtis Jacobs. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
No drama and no debate, Jase McClellan went about where he belonged in the 234th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
