For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Raiders walked out of the weekend still thin at edge rusher, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
On value alone, Gray makes the weekend a net positive. The cost of the Lloyd reach is exactly the players who went right after him. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tyler Guyton at No. 44 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They liked Spencer Rattler enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 77. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
MarShawn Lloyd at Round 4, Pick 12 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Cedric Gray at slot 150 is the proof. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Nice patience on Javon Baker, who had no business lasting to pick No. 190. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Jeremy Flax went about where he belonged in the 234th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
