They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Trente Jones, 51 picks early at the 256th overall pick. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Kinchens falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
If Joe Alt and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
Kris Jenkins at the 37th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kamren Kinchens at Round 3, Pick 5 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They paid sticker price for Khyree Jackson in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Brenden Rice in the 106th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They liked Dylan Laube enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 139. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nice patience on Marcus Harris, who had no business lasting to pick No. 153. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They jumped the gun on Jared Wiley, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Dylan McMahon in the 223rd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Trente Jones. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
