You could see the war room lean forward. Danny Stutsman at pick 203 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
They will need Burch to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 30th pick they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Good price on Aireontae Ersery in pick 61, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jordan Burch at Round 3, Pick 15 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A tidy bit of business in slot 107, where Elic Ayomanor graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board fumbled Andrew Mukuba all the way to the 130th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Steal is underselling it; Jake Majors at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Circle this one: Cam Skattebo at No. 175 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Danny Stutsman at pick No. 203 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Jeffrey Bassa at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Terrance Ferguson in pick 247 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
