This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Ollie Gordon II, the No. 175 name on the board, stolen at the 250th pick. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 30 they get juice off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Cameron Williams reach slot 61 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
T.J. Sanders in pick 79 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Emery Jones Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Dorian Strong went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 32. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Taking Quincy Riley in the Round 6 slot is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Dont'e Thornton Jr. still on the board at the 238th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Ollie Gordon II in the 250th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
