Everything else got attention, and edge rusher got none. That is a strange way for the Raiders to leave a draft.
Getting Pritchett where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a blindside protector at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid sticker price for J.J. McCarthy in the 44th overall pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Malachi Corley at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tyrice Knight at pick No. 112 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Nehemiah Pritchett at Round 5, Pick 14 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Trey Knox in slot 190 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Blake Watson slid further than he should have, and pick 234 is lovely value for the running back. It fills a real need, too.
