The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Ricky White, No. 232, roughly 54 picks past where he belonged.
The Rattler pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Van Jefferson pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a wrecking ball inside. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for Troy Fautanu in the 43rd pick, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Spencer Rattler in No. 75, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Marist Liufau at Round 3, Pick 24 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board had MarShawn Lloyd higher than the 111th overall pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
Sataoa Laumea at pick 148 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jaylin Simpson at pick No. 189 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ricky White at slot 232 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
