This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kamal Hadden, the No. 129 name on the board, stolen at slot 150. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Jackson reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 13 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. A real need, handled.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on J.J. McCarthy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kingsley Suamataia at the 77th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Khyree Jackson in the Round 4 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Kamal Hadden here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No edge and no loss on Michael Barrett in slot 190; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
No drama and no debate, Miles Frazier went about where he belonged in pick No. 234. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
