The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Jaden Hicks, Round 5, Pick 35, roughly 86 picks past where he belonged.
They will regret leaving offensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jared Verse at the 50th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board fumbled Jer'Zhan Newton all the way to pick 53, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for Kris Abrams-Draine here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Taking Kalen King in slot 161 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Steal is underselling it; Jaden Hicks at pick No. 171 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Somehow Justin Eboigbe was still sitting there in the 172nd overall pick, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Brennan Jackson at No. 210 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
