They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
The cost of the Hart reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Getting McClellan where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 9th pick they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
They liked Jackson Powers-Johnson enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 44. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Malachi Corley at pick No. 77, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A real head-scratcher, Cam Hart in the Round 4 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid up for Justin Rogers at Round 5, Pick 14 when waiting would have done the job. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Christian Jones at pick 190 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They let Jase McClellan come to them and pounced at No. 234. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
