Start where it matters. The Patriots took Caleb Williams to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C.
Getting Rosemy-Jacksaint where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 8th overall pick they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Graham Barton slid further than he should have, and No. 34 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nothing to complain about; Ja'Tavion Sanders went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 68 with a little surplus value in Kiran Amegadjie. It fills a real need, too.
Dallin Holker in pick 137 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jha'Quan Jackson in the 180th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dwight McGlothern at slot 193 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They barely believed it either: Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint still on the board at the Round 7 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
