The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They banked enough surplus on McClellan to cover a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 9 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Tyler Guyton in Round 2, Pick 12 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board had Ruke Orhorhoro higher than pick 77, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Max Melton at par in pick No. 112, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing James Williams in the 150th overall pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A slide stopped in the Round 6 slot, with Javon Baker worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jase McClellan at No. 234 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
