You could see the war room lean forward. M.J. Devonshire at the 233rd overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
They are betting Suamataia proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
Kingsley Suamataia at the Round 2 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jonathon Brooks at the 56th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at slot 87 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Jalen McMillan in pick No. 101; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They robbed the room for Luke McCaffrey here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Johnny Dixon in pick 216 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
