Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Raiders were there to profit. Jordan Magee, the No. 161 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 7, Pick 3.
The whole projection now runs through Michael Penix Jr.; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 13 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board fumbled Michael Penix Jr. all the way to slot 29, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Taking Jaylen Wright in the 77th pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Mekhi Wingo in the Round 4 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jarrian Jones at the 148th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Circle this one: Trevor Keegan at pick No. 208 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Jordan Magee at pick 223 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Good price on Justin Rogers in slot 229, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
