The rest of the league will want that one back. Jaylin Noel tumbling to the Texans in slot 167 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They will need Griffith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Matthew Golden slid further than he should have, and No. 58 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Donovan Jackson at slot 89 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
Terrance Ferguson in the 127th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow Jaylin Noel was still sitting there in pick No. 167, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Thor Griffith at Round 7, Pick 25 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
