The Texans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jalon Walker, the No. 20 name on the board, in pick No. 89. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Jackson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a load in the middle. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Donovan Jackson at pick No. 58 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Jalon Walker was still sitting there in slot 89, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Savion Williams in the 127th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Oronde Gadsden II in the 167th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A quiet steal in pick 243: Hunter Wohler for less than the market said. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
