The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Texans watched Bhayshul Tuten slide 87 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Noel proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Job largely done: running back settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get an anchor for the defensive front, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board had Tyler Warren higher than Round 2, Pick 26, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Dylan Fairchild at No. 89 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jaylin Noel in slot 126 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Sonny Styles at the 165th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
You do not let a running back like Bhayshul Tuten reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
