This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Ollie Gordon II, the No. 160 name on the board, stolen at slot 235.
They will need Jackson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 19 they get a No. 1 receiver, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Donovan Jackson in the 53rd pick, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Deone Walker in the 84th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Barrett Carter at Round 4, Pick 19 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Sonny Styles in slot 164 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Somehow Ollie Gordon II was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
