The Texans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Bhayshul Tuten fell into the 241st overall pick. The bottom line is a respectable B.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: running back settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Kenneth Grant at Round 1, Pick 25 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Isaiah Bond in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy little value on Donovan Jackson in pick 89, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking Harold Fannin Jr. in No. 126 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Billy Bowman Jr. in the 165th overall pick, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Circle this one: Bhayshul Tuten at pick No. 241 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
