The Texans let Gordon II fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

When a board-topper like Ollie Gordon II slides to slot 241, you do not overthink it, and the Texans did not.

If Jackson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 37
In the 25th overall pick they get a building block for the line, reach and all.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Donovan Jackson · OT · rank 88
Donovan Jackson at the 57th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Alfred Collins · DT · rank 62
Taking Alfred Collins in slot 89 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.25 · Pick 126 · Kevin Winston Jr. · S · rank 94
They will replay Kevin Winston Jr. at pick No. 126 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R5.26 · Pick 164 · Eli Stowers · TE · rank 169
Eli Stowers in pick 164 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.27 · Pick 241 · Ollie Gordon II · RB · rank 165
Somehow Ollie Gordon II was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 27, and they pounced on premier running back value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
