You could see the war room lean forward. Cam Skattebo at pick 239 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The Durant pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a No. 1 receiver, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Taking Tyler Booker in pick No. 55 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 86 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
A real head-scratcher, Zane Durant in slot 122 is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Xavier Nwankpa at pick 164 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Cam Skattebo in the 239th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
