Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Bhayshul Tuten got past him. The Texans do not have to explain a thing at the 243rd overall pick. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Reaching for Ratledge left real value on the table behind him.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a disruptive interior force. The biggest hole, addressed.
A reach for Tate Ratledge in the Round 2 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Malaki Starks at Round 3, Pick 25 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Elijah Arroyo in slot 127, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pat Bryant in pick No. 167 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Bhayshul Tuten at the 243rd overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
