The Texans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Craig Woodson fell into the Round 7 slot.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a wrecking ball inside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Somehow Tyleik Williams was still sitting there in slot 58, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value with a capital V on Tate Ratledge in the 89th overall pick, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 127th pick is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Oronde Gadsden II still on the board at Round 5, Pick 28. A need, and now a little less of one.
Craig Woodson at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
