The Texans torched the value chart for De'Corian Clark, taking him 36 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 23 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Fair-plus on Chris Braswell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Marist Liufau at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Malik Mustapha in slot 123 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They went early on Jaheim Bell in the 127th pick, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
This one needs a full-page explanation: De'Corian Clark in pick 164, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Tanner McLachlan at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
They liked Carson Steele enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 248. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
