You build a draft on nights like this. Bhayshul Tuten had no business being available in the Round 7 slot, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tyler Warren in the 58th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Dylan Fairchild at par in pick 89, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Circle this one: Jaylin Noel at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They will replay Robert Spears-Jennings at the 165th pick for years; that is how good the value is. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Steal is underselling it; Bhayshul Tuten at Round 7, Pick 25 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
