Call it larceny. Sonny Styles sat on the board until the Round 5 slot, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Reaching for Griffith left real value on the table behind him. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They robbed the room for Jalon Walker here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They did well to land Donovan Jackson in Round 3, Pick 25, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No edge and no loss on Oronde Gadsden II in pick No. 126; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Sonny Styles in the 165th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor itch, scratched.
Thor Griffith at pick 241 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
