You build a draft on nights like this. Bhayshul Tuten had no business being available in the Round 7 slot, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The cost of the Jackson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a seam-stretching tight end, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
A big swing on Donovan Jackson at the 58th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Jack Bech still on the board at the 89th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, Darius Alexander went about where he belonged in pick 126. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Billy Bowman Jr. in No. 165, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A running back of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 25 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
