The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Cam Skattebo, the 243rd pick, roughly 138 picks past where he belonged. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
If Jackson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. The biggest hole, addressed.
Donovan Jackson at Round 2, Pick 26 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board had Elijah Arroyo higher than No. 89, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Savion Williams in the 127th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Robert Spears-Jennings at the 167th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Cam Skattebo in slot 243, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
