The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Texans watched Bhayshul Tuten slide 79 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Every board in the league had Gadsden II lower, and that gap is the story.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
They let Matthew Golden come to them and pounced at the 58th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nice patience on Tate Ratledge, who had no business lasting to the 89th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They went early on Oronde Gadsden II in pick No. 127, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
Billy Bowman Jr. at No. 167 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They barely believed it either: Bhayshul Tuten still on the board at Round 7, Pick 25. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
