You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Texans did exactly that with Thor Griffith in pick 241.
On value alone, Gadsden II makes the weekend a net positive. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a red-zone target to build around, and a steal at that.
Tyler Booker at the 58th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jack Bech at pick 89 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Darius Alexander at Round 4, Pick 25 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board fumbled Oronde Gadsden II all the way to pick No. 165, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Thor Griffith this early at the Round 7 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
