Call it larceny. Cam Skattebo sat on the board until the 241st overall pick, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The Capehart pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Job largely done: running back settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
A tight end of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy little value on Dylan Fairchild in pick 89, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
DeMonte Capehart at slot 126 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Sonny Styles in pick No. 165 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Cam Skattebo in the 241st overall pick, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
