When the story of this class is written, it opens with Thor Griffith at pick 243, a reach of 67 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
Landing Starks that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Warren in pick 58 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Malaki Starks at slot 89 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Taking Savion Williams in the Round 4 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nice patience on Jackson Slater, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 28. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A big swing on Thor Griffith at the 243rd overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
