Nobody else had Thor Griffith anywhere near pick No. 243. The Texans did, by 66 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Ransom falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Value with a capital V on Walter Nolen in the 25th overall pick, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Emeka Egbuka in the 58th pick, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A slide stopped in Round 3, Pick 25, with Tate Ratledge worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Elijah Arroyo at slot 127 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay Lathan Ransom at pick No. 167 for years; that is how good the value is. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Value said wait; Thor Griffith in No. 243 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
