This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Barrett Carter, the No. 83 name on the board, stolen at the Round 5 slot. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Reaching for Griffith left real value on the table behind him. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a mismatch in the passing game, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Tyler Booker at slot 58 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had Tate Ratledge higher than Round 3, Pick 25, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No drama and no debate, Darius Alexander went about where he belonged in the 126th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They barely believed it either: Barrett Carter still on the board at the Round 5 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Thor Griffith at No. 241 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
