Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Bhayshul Tuten, the No. 165 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 7, Pick 25. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Gadsden II pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Job largely done: running back settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a disruptive interior force. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A slide stopped in pick No. 58, with Matthew Golden worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They did well to land Donovan Jackson in the 89th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A premium they did not need to pay, Oronde Gadsden II a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Circle this one: Billy Bowman Jr. at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A running back of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 25 is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
