The De'Corian Clark selection is the head-turner. The Texans reached 36 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The DeJean pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd pick they get a lockdown presence outside at a price that makes it sweeter.
Payton Wilson at slot 59 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Leonard Taylor III this early at pick 85. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Malik Mustapha at the 123rd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They liked Jaheim Bell enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 4 slot. It fills a real need, too.
A big swing on De'Corian Clark at No. 164, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
