When a board-topper like Bhayshul Tuten slides to slot 239, you do not overthink it, and the Texans did not. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The Stowers reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Malaki Starks at pick No. 55 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor itch, scratched.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Luke Kandra in No. 86, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They talked themselves into Eli Stowers at pick 122, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Xavier Nwankpa well ahead of where he belonged. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Taking Bhayshul Tuten in the 239th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
