This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Sonny Styles, the No. 121 name on the board, stolen at No. 165.
They will need Griffith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a load in the middle. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Matthew Golden slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 26 is lovely value for the wide receiver. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Colston Loveland in pick No. 89 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Circle this one: Luke Kandra at No. 126 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board fumbled Sonny Styles all the way to the 165th overall pick, and they scooped it up. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Value said wait; Thor Griffith in the 241st pick says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
