The Texans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Bhayshul Tuten, the No. 156 name on the board, in Round 7, Pick 25. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board had Matthew Golden higher than Round 2, Pick 26, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Dylan Fairchild. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Oronde Gadsden II. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board fumbled Sonny Styles all the way to pick No. 165, and they scooped it up. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
