Houston Texans

The Texans cashed the board's mistake on Ransom: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Lathan Ransom, the No. 109 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 167. No fireworks, but a solid B.

The Griffith pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Walter Nolen · DT · rank 19
In slot 25 they get a load in the middle. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Luther Burden III · WR · rank 14
Luther Burden III in pick 58 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Donovan Jackson · OT · rank 86
A reasonable price with a little left over, Donovan Jackson in pick No. 89. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.26 · Pick 127 · Savion Williams · WR · rank 98
Savion Williams at the 127th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.28 · Pick 167 · Lathan Ransom · S · rank 109
They will replay Lathan Ransom at the Round 5 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R7.25 · Pick 243 · Thor Griffith · DL · rank 294
This one needs a full-page explanation: Thor Griffith in No. 243, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
