Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Jalon Walker, the No. 20 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 89. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The Griffith reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
A slide stopped in Round 1, Pick 25, with Tyler Warren worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Tyler Booker in the Round 2 slot, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jalon Walker in slot 89 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Darius Alexander at the 126th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 165 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They talked themselves into Thor Griffith at the 241st overall pick, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
