You could see the war room lean forward. Savion Williams at Round 5, Pick 28 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The cost of the Slater reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Matthew Golden at Round 2, Pick 26. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nothing to complain about; Donovan Jackson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jackson Slater in the 127th overall pick, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Savion Williams in pick No. 167 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Somehow Jordan Hancock was still sitting there in slot 243, and they pounced on premier safety value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
