The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Bhayshul Tuten, the No. 154 name on the board, sitting there at No. 241 like a gift left on the doorstep. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Warren slid further than he should have, and pick 58 is lovely value for the tight end. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Donovan Jackson in the 89th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Tez Johnson all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kevin Winston Jr. at Round 5, Pick 28 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Bhayshul Tuten in the 241st overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
