This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Cam Skattebo, the No. 111 name on the board, stolen at pick 241.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Noel proves the room right and everyone else wrong. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get an anchor for the defensive front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They barely believed it either: Tyler Booker still on the board at the 58th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Gunnar Helm in the 89th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jaylin Noel at pick No. 126 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for Billy Bowman Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Somehow Cam Skattebo was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
