Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Raheim Sanders got past him. The Texans do not have to explain a thing at pick 241. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: running back settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a disruptive interior force. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Isaiah Bond in slot 58. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick 89 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Luke Kandra at No. 126. The roster fit checks out.
Billy Bowman Jr. at the Round 5 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Somehow Raheim Sanders was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 25, and they pounced on premier running back value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
