The Texans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Tyler Warren, the No. 14 name on the board, in pick 58. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an anchor for the defensive front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They robbed the room for Tyler Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Donovan Jackson in the 89th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jaylin Noel in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jackson Slater reach No. 167 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Jordan Hancock at the 243rd pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
