Houston Texans

The Texans let Gordon II fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

Somebody in the Round 7 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Ollie Gordon II, the No. 164 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: running back settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Mason Graham · DT · rank 6
In pick No. 25 they get a wrecking ball inside, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Tyler Warren · TE · rank 43
Nice patience on Tyler Warren, who had no business lasting to pick 58. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Dylan Fairchild · OG · rank 55
Dylan Fairchild at Round 3, Pick 25 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.25 · Pick 126 · Luke Kandra · OG · rank 105
Luke Kandra in the 126th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.28 · Pick 165 · Kevin Winston Jr. · S · rank 91
Steal is underselling it; Kevin Winston Jr. at the 165th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R7.25 · Pick 241 · Ollie Gordon II · RB · rank 164
The board fumbled Ollie Gordon II all the way to No. 241, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
